Who We’re Looking For

We are seeking an experienced BABCP-accredited CBT and EMDR practitioner to join our team at Police Care UK. This role is for a skilled clinician with at least four years of experience delivering trauma-focused therapies, particularly in the assessment and treatment of psychological trauma, PTSD, and CPTSD.

With a background in policing, blue light services, or similar uniformed professions, you will understand the unique psychological challenges faced by those in high-pressure roles. You will work autonomously, managing a clinical caseload while also overseeing adult services within the charity, ensuring high standards of care and risk management.

Main Responsibilities

• Conduct clinical assessments, deliver evidence-based therapies (CBT/EMDR) for PTSD/CPTSD, and maintain accurate records.
• Manage a clinical caseload independently, ensuring confidentiality and adherence to professional guidelines.
• Deputise for the Psychological Services Lead, prioritising referrals and allocating beneficiaries to appropriate interventions.
• Conduct risk assessments, interpret psychometric data, and signpost beneficiaries to alternative services when necessary.
• Collaborate with occupational health professionals, external organisations, and Police Force contacts.
• Deliver and support Intensive Trauma Service (ITS) therapy in person and digitally, including onsite residential support if required. 
• Contribute to service development through feedback collection, audits, and research.
• Monitor cases, provide clinical supervision, and engage in peer supervision and professional development.
• Offer training, psychoeducation, and workshops for beneficiaries and stakeholders.
• Ensure adherence to clinical governance, confidentiality, and professional standards.

Qualifications & Training

• BABCP-accredited CBT qualification.
• Trained and experienced in EMDR (working towards accreditation).
• Evidence of CPD and clinical supervision.
• Strong knowledge of trauma models and NICE guidelines.

Experience

• Experience working with police, emergency services, or military personnel.
• Clinical assessment and e-therapeutic treatment experience.
• Skilled in time-limited interventions and trauma psychometrics.
• Knowledge of psychological and pharmacological treatment guidelines.

Knowledge

• Expertise in trauma-focused therapies.
• Understanding of emergency service mental health challenges.
• Awareness of the wider issues faced by police officers.
• Commitment to Police Care UK’s vision and values.

Skills

• Proficient in Microsoft Office and IT systems.
• Strong communication and numerical skills.
• Proactive, flexible, and resourceful.
• Ability to manage distressing and sensitive material.
• Self-aware with effective wellbeing balance.
• Willing to deliver therapies at Police Care UK’s Intensive Trauma Service if required.

Hours of work: The basic hours of work are up to 35 hours per week spread over 5 working days.
